Heading North
Much has been accomplished, and all is well at The Eva Ruf Resource Centre. Today three of the girls from Kings Daughters were here helping us with gathering up the blankets, baby clothes and diapers, and cribs to be sent as gifts for the children suffering in the north, in Gulu.
Our work setting up the centre and creating a space that is unpacked, organized, and ready to receive the community has been overwhelming, BUT we have made the decision that the best thing to do is to release the blankets, shoes, dresses and toys and countless other gifts to those who have suffered the most in Uganda, the people in the north, particularly the child soldiers.
We are working with our partners here in Uganda, and want to inform all who contributed that these items will transported to the Northern cities of Gulu and Lira. There, they will be distributed by the people who know exactly who is in the most desperate need. These 2 places are brimming with desperately hurt and broken people.
Karine and I have decided that because we are literally tripping over the donations at the centre, and because we are consciously trying to figure out a fair way to distribute them and NOT create an atmosphere of dependence through gifting, which has been a challenge, that we will send the items to the areas in most urgent need.
May God bless those who receive these lovely gifts. May they know His love, and find healing through that love in their lives.
